One bottle we didn’t drink. This was the oldest bottle in a spiral display of Chateau d’Yquem, a Sauternes, from 1919 to 2011. The recently made bottles were a very light straw yellow and it darkens as it ages. It’s a sweet white wine made from grapes ‘spoiled’ by the botrytis fungus which gives it a pleasant mild tang. Our much cheaper version is below. This one was 3000 Euros. Pass on that one.
